I bought the Z4 car in 2011 and it was first registered in Jan 2010 so it's currently 4.5 years old. I've never had any issues with the roof mechanism except for the other day when it came down about half way (closed -> open) and then the button went red and I had the red roof picture in the main display (i.e. cannot operate). Important for every Z4 owner: Red roof light flashing is NOT a fault indicator!!!! It's only an indicater, that the roof is neither open nor closed. That's it, nothing more.
